Biography
Born in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, Claire Harris studied in Ireland and Jamaica before emigrating to Canada. A former teacher of high school English, she wrote 7 books of poetry. Her work focuses on struggles around identity and oppression faced by women of colour. She earned numerous awards and nominations for her work. .
